This festival combines the unique Lanna traditions of Yi Peng and Loy Krathong through cultural activities, traditional performances, Lanna cuisine, and a magical moment when thousands of sky lanterns are released into the night sky together under the light of the full moon.This is not just a festival, but a Cultural Experience that allows you to truly discover the charm of Chiang Mai.

Parking lot at Lanna Polytechnic College, Chiang Mai

  • Travel time from the city is approximately 45–60 minutes.
  • Shuttle service departs every 5 minutes between 13:00–16:00.
  • Children under 8 years old enter for free (does not include seat, sky lantern, Krathong, food, or souvenirs).
  • Sky lantern and Krathong sales points: There are 3 sales points within the event for the convenience of attendees.
  • Photographer services: Photographers are available at the event to capture your memories throughout the festival (additional charges may apply depending on the service provider).
  • Lanna costume rental/purchase: There are shops for renting and purchasing Lanna costumes within the event. Those who rent or purchase costumes at the event can participate in the "Popular CNX Loy Krathong Sky Lantern Festival 2026" contest to win tickets for the following year.


Safety and Facilities

To ensure a safe and worry-free experience for all attendees, the event has prepared comprehensive safety measures and facilities, including:

  • K9 Security Working Dog Division: A professional security company with a K9 team will be on duty to maintain safety and provide confidence to all attendees.
  • First aid station with staff on duty throughout the event.
  • Fire extinguishers and emergency equipment in key areas.
  • Security personnel stationed throughout the event area.


Photo Spots

  • 12 Zodiac Lantern Display: Symbols of the birth years according to the Chinese calendar, using 12 animals to represent each year, cycling every 12 years. It is believed that each person's character, personality, and life path are similar to their zodiac animal.

  • Giant Krathong: A vessel crafted to be floated on water on the night of the full moon of the 12th lunar month. It has a base made from banana trunks, coconut shells, or other natural materials, decorated with flowers, incense, and candles to pay respect and worship the Goddess of Water.
  • Tung Arch: A type of hanging flag in Lanna culture, made from various materials such as fabric, wood, metal, or paper, used for decoration or in religious rituals.
  • Lantern and Tung Decoration: Lanterns are hanging lights or lamps used for illumination and decoration, a long-standing Lanna wisdom used to worship the Buddha and bring good fortune.

Doors open for the CNX Loy Krathong Sky Lantern Festival 2026

Attendees can present their E-Ticket for registration, receive souvenirs and a welcome drink, and start exploring the festival atmosphere from the afternoon.

Inside, discover the "Lanna Kad Mua" (local market), featuring over 60 food stalls and local products from Chiang Mai, such as:


More than 60 renowned local restaurants will be serving authentic Northern Thai cuisine, traditional desserts, and local beverages throughout the afternoon, allowing every guest to enjoy the rich flavors of Lanna.In addition, guests can enjoy a variety of activities throughout the event, including the Lanna Cultural Workshop Zone, traditional Lanna cultural performances, handicraft and local product markets, and beautifully designed photo spots inspired by the atmosphere of Chiang Mai's Yi Peng Festival.
Lanna Cultural Workshop ZoneExperience the charm of Lanna culture through hands-on workshops, where everyone can create their own handmade souvenirs to take home.The workshop zone features more than 13 activities, including soap carving, handkerchief embroidery, Phang Pratheep (Lanna clay candle) making, Tung Sai Moo crafting, rabbit-ear lantern making, Tok Tung (Lanna paper-cut banners), flower carving, Cho Phaka Thai dessert making, krathong making, flower garland making, flower folding, tie-dye handkerchiefs, and hand fan painting.All workshops are free of charge for all ticket holders and are available throughout the event day.

Return to Chiang Mai City

Ticket Collection

After your payment has been successfully completed, the system will send your E-Ticket (QR Code) to the email address used during the purchase.Please download your ticket to your mobile phone before traveling to the event, as the internet connection at the venue may be unstable.The name on the ticket must match a valid ID card or passport for identity verification on the event day.

What does the Premium Experience ticket include?

The ticket price is THB 9,800 per person and includes 3 sky lanterns, 1 krathong, a candle-lighting ceremony, a krathong-floating ceremony, a simultaneous sky lantern release ceremony, a fireworks display, a Lanna and Thai food buffet, non-alcoholic beverages, as well as cultural activities and performances within the event.

Is there a shuttle service or parking available?

Parking is available at the parking area of Lanna Polytechnic College, Chiang Mai. Shuttle buses/songthaews are provided between the meeting point and the event venue. Vehicles depart every 5 minutes between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM, with return transportation available after the event from 8:45 PM onwards.

Can children attend the event?

Children under 8 years old can enter free of charge but will not receive a seat, sky lanterns, a krathong, food, or souvenirs. To receive all benefits, it is recommended to purchase a ticket for the child.
